The ORMTA Hamilton/Halton Branch Competitions are open to students of all branch members who are performing at the Junior Level (Instrumental & Vocal Level 8 or Level 9) and Senior Level (Instrumental Level 10 or Associate Level; Vocal Level 9 or above).

ORMTA Competitions are held at three different levels:
Branch (May 13th, 2023)
Zone
Provincial
They are divided into two separate categories: Instrumental and Vocal. At the Branch Level competition there are two categories: Junior Level and Senior Level. One instrumentalist and one vocalist from each level will be chosen as winners to proceed to the Zone competition.
*The same program will be performed at all levels of competition.
Rules & Regulations
*First place winners move onto zone, and the first place winner of the senior zone competitions move onto provincial.
Junior Level*
Instrumental:
– Competitors must not have reached their 20th birthday as of January 1, 2023.
– Competitors must prepare 2 or more contrasting selections from level 8 or 9.
– The programme must have a minimum of 10 minutes of music and not exceed 15 minutes of stage time.
Vocal:
– Competitors must not have reached their 20th birthday as of January 1, 2023.
– Competitors must prepare at least 3 selections in two or more languages from level 8 or 9.
– The programme must have a minimum of 10 minutes of music and not exceed 15 minutes of stage time.
Senior Level*
Instrumental:
– Competitors must not have reached their 25th birthday as of January 1, 2023.
– Competitors must prepare 2 or more contrasting selections from level 10 or ARCT.
– The programme must have a minimum of 15 minutes of music and not exceed 20 minutes of stage time.
Vocal:
– Competitors must not have reached their 20th birthday as of January 1, 2023.
– Competitors must prepare at least 3 selections in two or more languages from level 10 or ARCT.
– The programme must have a minimum of 15 minutes of music and not exceed 20 minutes of stage time.
